Prince Charles was greeted with shouts of "Congratulations Granddad" as he and the Duchess of Cornwall arrived at the Royal Welsh Show in Powys.
The prince laughed as the woman, wearing a pair of Union flags in her hair, shouted out the special greeting.
He and Camilla met their new grandson with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on Tuesday.
The royal visitors were greeted at the Llanelwedd showground with applause and cheers on Wednesday morning.
At the start of a speech to the prince's countryside fund, Prince Charles said: "For me, it's particularly special to be here at the Royal Welsh.
"I discovered the other day that this is my seventh visit - can you believe - in very nearly 50 years. That's probably why I've become a grandfather."
Beforehand, Victoria Harris, director of the fund, congratulated him on becoming a grandfather.
The prince was announcing more than £560,000 in grants from the fund.

It is the prince's seventh visit to Llanelwedd but the duchess's first.
He chatted to a number of visitors as he walked onto the showground with the duchess, in bright sunshine.
He also took a card, which he promised to pass onto the new parents.
And five-year-old Amy Hardy from Bronllys, near Brecon, presented Charles with a painting of potato prints.
Her grandmother Helen Hardy said Amy had made it to congratulate the prince on becoming a grandfather.
Prince Charles is a former president of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society (RWAS) which runs the event, and The Queen is patron.
After news broke that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had a baby son on Monday, the RWAS said it was "delighted with the news of a new royal baby".
The society passed on its "best wishes and congratulations on this momentous occasion" and said it shared "a real sense of pride in welcoming a patron of the future".

Charles and Camilla began their visit in the President's Pavilion meeting RWAS staff after which they split up to go on separate tours of the ground.
Later he will attend a reception for the Prince's Countryside Fund, of which he is president.
The fund gives grants to projects supporting people who look after the countryside.
The Duchess of Cornwall will also visit the Green Pavilion, where she will meet some of the RWAS's Young Members Forum.
As president of the Royal Voluntary Service (RVS), she will also visit the organisation's hut.
The charity supports older people through community services like meals on wheels.
The royal couple have already met their new grandson on a short visit to St Mary's Hospital in London on Tuesday where the prince was born.
Afterwards, Prince Charles declared his grandson was "marvellous".
It had been suggested the Duke of Cambridge attend this year's show because of his connections with Anglesey, the event's featured county in 2013.
But, as it turned out, the first day of the show was the day his baby son was born.
Prince Charles first visited the Royal Welsh Show in 1969 and again in 1988, 1995, 1999, 2000 and 2001, when he opened the society's Winter Fair.
